John and Ann Hansen are our dear friends from our Fuller Seminary days, and we had the opportunity to reconnect with them recently after a ten-year connective hiatus. It was amazing to see what God has done for them in the last ten years. Here they are celebrating their ten-year anniversary as pastors of Centerpoint last month.
Here are some key takeaways from my conversation with John:
- God uses times of financial need to drive us to spiritualize the financial realm of our lives. Since only faith pleases God, in order to please God in the realm of our finances, we must learn to believe for our finances.
- But God wants to take us beyond the place of faith for provision . . . if we are constantly believing God for the meeting of our daily needs, we never step into the realm of blessing. Blessing is more than mere provision!
- Financial wisdom enables us to move beyond the place where we are believing for provision and into the place in which we can begin to believe for blessing.
- Financial blessing always takes us beyond our personal wants and needs and into the realm of generosity.
