This is the victory that overcomes the world; even our faith. (1 John 5:4)

Worry is a sin, and an extraordinarily popular sin at that. When Jesus said, “Do not worry” (Matt 6:31), he was not making a suggestion, nor was he offering us empty encouragement; he was issuing an emphatic command. In fact, the grammatical construction in the Greek conveys emphatic future negation: “Don’t even think about ever worrying!”

I think it would be an understatement to say that we don’t take this command very seriously. We have more worriers in the church than fornicators . . . and that’s a lot! Why are we experiencing such an epidemic of worry in the body of Christ? Because at the end of the day we just don’t believe that what the word of God says is true!

Think about it. If faith is really the victory that overcomes the world, then there is really no need to worry. How can you worry about that which you have already overcome? I know that it doesn’t look like you’ve overcome the world. But that is why you need faith. Faith is the evidence of things unseen. Your faith is the experiential evidence of your victory over every obstacle, every power of opposition, and every trial.

Stop worrying and go to a new level of obedience in your walk with Christ!
