Did you ever desire to be a fire fighter when you were a little kid? Well I’ve got good news for you: We are the fire fighters of the kingdom of God. But we don’t fight fire with water; we fight fire with fire! Jesus came to baptize us in the Holy Spirit, and with fire, and it is this fire of the Spirit that empowers us to stand our ground against the fires of hell.
The prophet Zechariah had a vision of Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord wearing filthy garments, and Satan was there to oppose him. But the angel of the Lord rebuked Satan saying, “The Lord rebuke you, Satan! The Lord who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Is this not a brand plucked from the burning?” (Zechariah 3:2)
A brand plucked from the burning . . . literally, a stick pulled out of the fire (but that King James poeticism makes it sound so much more sophisticated, doesn’t it?). Yes, this guy is wearing filthy garments, and yes, the fires of hell were about to consume him. But God . . . God has sent his angel to pull this man out of the fire, to strip him of his filthy garments, to clothe him in garments white and clean, and to endow him with the power of a heavenly fire that is able to make him a mighty witness for God’s glory!
A brand plucked from the burning: that is what you are! You are saved from fire to fire; rescued from the fire of hell and immersed in the fire of heaven. And you are a powerful fire fighter!
Just as the angel of the Lord broke the accusation of the enemy from over the life of Joshua, I break the accusation of the enemy from over your life right now. The Lord rebuke you, Satan! The Lord who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! I’m declaring right now that your garments have been made spotless, they are white as snow. You have washed your garments in the precious blood of the Lamb of God, and you will stand with the Lamb on Mt Zion, dressed in white, with the name of the Lamb and of the Father written on your forehead. And no lie will be found in your mouth, and you will follow the Lamb wherever he goes!
And you will pull many brands from the burning and make them princes in all the earth! You will press back the fire of hell and release the fire of God. You are a fire fighter and a fire starter! And the earth has been waiting for you to do your thing.
Its time to rise up! Its time to pray! Its time to press into the deep things of God like never before! Its time to lay claim to your divine inheritance! Its time to receive and release the authority of the kingdom of God that you were born to receive and release!
The time has come. The kingdom of God is here. Repent, and believe the gospel!
