You destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. (2 Timothy 1:10)
Question: What happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object?
Answer: One of them is proved an impostor!
Theoretically, if an unstoppable force were ever to collide with an immovable object, the result would be an eternal explosion. The perpetual release of energy from the unstoppable force would destroy everything before, behind, beside, above, and beneath the immovable object.
However, the problem with this question is that it presupposes that the two are opposing forces, and this is impossible. If they both exist, then two different infinite forces flow from two different infinite sources. And since we know that there is only one infinite source, we can safely conclude that there can only be one infinite force.
However, if God is infinite, then he can be both an unstoppable force and an immovable object. His sovereignty makes him unstoppable: he does what he wants. And his faithfulness makes him immovable: he never changes. But his sovereignty and faithfulness are never in opposition to each other, and so there can never be a collision between an unstoppable force and an immovable object. His unstoppability moves in a different direction than his immovability.
So what does this have to do with us? Well, its simple: Satan is constantly throwing up barriers in front of us that look unmovable, and God is constantly filling us with power that makes us unstoppable. The questions is, who’s report will you believe?
When the unstoppable force of the Spirit of God within you meets the immovable objects of demonic opposition before you, you will know beyond a shadow of a doubt that . . .THE DEVIL IS A LIAR!!!
In God you are both immovable and unstoppable. You are immovable in his faithfulness and unstoppable in his sovereignty. If Satan tries to move you, you cannot be moved. If Satan tries to stop you, you cannot be stopped. You are grounded in his promises, and you are mobilized by his power. Everything around you that looks unmovable is actually movable. And every power of opposition aimed at you that looks unstoppable is actually stoppable.
Spiritual maturity is about learning to recognize and agree with the power that resides within us by the Spirit, to trust it enough to run boldly through the defenses of the enemy, and to boldly stand your ground against his advances, and to know when it is time to run swiftly and when it is time to stand firm.
